Training Funding: Data Science Certificate Tuition Support Available

The Critical Digital Humanities Initiative (CDHI) is pleased to support our members in Data Sciences training through the University of Toronto Data Sciences Institute (DSI) Data Sciences Certificate Program.

The Data Sciences Certificate Program offers participants the opportunity to will learn and understand how to apply the core competencies in foundational data science, as well as gaining hands-on experience through real-world case studies. Online, synchronous course options include Data Science Foundations (Intro to Unix Shell, Git, and GitHub), Introduction to R, Introduction to Python, Data Storage and Access, Sampling, Estimation, Testing and Learning, Visualization, and Causal Inference. Learners can register in specific courses or for the full Certificate, which consists of 6 courses.

The first course in the Data Sciences Certificate Program is Data Sciences Foundations. The course begins on 17 October 2022. If you are interested in applying to the certificate program, please apply as soon as possible. Applications are accepted via the DSI application portal: https://datasciencecertificate.ca/apply/

To support our members and their training goals, CDHI is pleased to offer $500 to assist with course tuition.

Eligibility

Any University of Toronto budgetarily appointed faculty member (including teaching stream and sessional faculty), librarian, postdoctoral fellow, or graduate student engaged in critical digital humanities research may apply for CDHI support.

Application Process

Step One: Submit application for support to CDHI, via this form: https://forms.office.com/r/rStvnymBjM. You will be notified by CDHI if you will receive the support.

Step Two: Submit application to Data Sciences Certificate Program, via https://datasciencecertificate.ca/apply/, and pay tuition in full for first course.

Step Three: Submit receipt for course tuition to CDHI, via dhn.admin@utoronto.ca. CDHI will then reimburse a $500 contribution towards course tuition.

Adjudication

The CDHI Executive Committee with adjudicate the application.
