Please join us February 17, 2023 at 12pm for the fourth in our CDHI’s Lightning Lunch series of 2022-2023, a conversation on how the digital humanities approaches working with new and old data, including its ethics and the afterlives.
Lightning Lunches are short meetings over lunch featuring the work of three scholars on a theme in current critical digital humanities scholarship. Our fourth discussion will be feature Dr. LK Bertram (Associate Professor of History at UoT), who will share her project on how scholars use high-yield data packaging strategies to combat digital disinformation campaigns; Dr. Katherine Mackinnon (CDHI Postdoctoral Fellow in Community Data), who will share her research on ethics, internet archives, and critical digital methodologies for use of “old data”; and Dr. Frances Corry (Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center on Digital Culture and Society and incoming Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Culture & Data Stewardship at the University of Pittsburgh), who will share her project that examines the process of social media platform closure and content deletion in order to ask about the future of cultural memory.
This Lightning Lunch will be virtual. Please register on Zoom.
