How to Build (and Maintain) a DH Project

13 May 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT

DHN lightning lunches focus on a specific topic or contemporary issue. By inviting experts from different disciplines to explore the intersections of their work, these events lead to the formation of new networks, research projects, and shared knowledge.

This virtual lightning lunch, “How to Build (and Maintain) a DH Project,” explores the topics of ethics and sustainability in the staffing, training, and management of DH projects. Speakers will present for approximately 10 minutes, followed by a general discussion. We invite all those with experience in DH project management (and those simply interested in it) to participate.

Guiding questions for the conversation might include: how can DH projects develop ethical and effective reporting structures? How might they push back against the academy’s trend toward precarious employment? And how can DH practitioners balance long-term project commitments with the demands of their own research and teaching?

Featuring:
Kristen Bos: PhD Candidate, Department of Anthropology, University of Toronto St. George
Pamela Klassen: Professor, Department for the Study of Religion, University of Toronto St. George
Nicholas Terpstra: Professor, Department of History, University of Toronto St. George
Colin Rose: Assistant Professor, Department of History, Brock University
