This workshop will introduce workflows for encoding texts using Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) and will discuss how to approach tagging transcriptions based on how future researchers will access a project’s digitized, transcribed, and searchable texts. Some introductory key principles of TEI, options for freely available text editor software tools for doing the encoding of documents, and, if time permits, a hands-on encoding practice will comprise the session. PI Dorothea Kullman‘s IDG project serve as the use case for session. The facilitator of the session is Kathy Chung PhD a Research Associate for REED and a certified Carpentries Instructor.
