Workshops and Short Courses

University of Toronto faculty and students can apply for funding to support their enrollment at training sessions in digital humanities methods elsewhere. Below are some of the more well-known places where students can build their DH skills. Please see the Training Scholarships page for further information about bursaries for these opportunities.

Digital Humanities Summer Institute

Coordinated by the Canadian Social Knowledge Institute at the University of Victoria, the Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI) offers a wide variety of digital training workshops each summer. In week-long intensives, faculty, staff, and students from across North America gather to attend courses on leading digital humanities theory, pedagogy, and praxis. Course offerings cover topics from digital mapping with GIS to text encoding with R and from intersectional feminism to race and social justice. The Critical Digital Humanities Initiative is an institutional member. To learn more about DHSI, as well as to view current course lists and sign up for the DHSI listserv, please visit their website.
