Program Assistant, Digital Humanities Network, University of Toronto
The Digital Humanities Network at the University of Toronto seeks a part-time Program Assistant for a limited-term position. Working independently under the general direction of the Director of the Digital Humanities Network (DHN), the Program Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the DHN. This is a remote position of 10 hrs/week from July 2020 through December 2020.
Responsibilities: The Program Assistant’s primary responsibility will be to provide administrative support for the DHN. This will include facilitating meetings (preparing agendas, taking minutes, following through on action items); assisting the DHN team in events programming (using tools such as Eventbrite, Zoom, etc.); maintaining DHN records using the file-sharing system Sharepoint; submitting reimbursement claims to University business officers; and monitoring the DHN budget.
Additionally, the Program Assistant will take on communications tasks: monitoring the DHN email account; drafting emails for Director and DHN; organizing and writing documentation of DHN activities for reporting; developing and updating the DHN website; maintaining and refreshing the DHN mailing list; drafting and collecting content for the DHN newsletter; and social media posting of DHN events.
Qualifications: We seek candidates who have some working knowledge of critical digital humanities; who bring an anti-racist, queer-positive sensibility to the post; have at least a BA degree in a field relevant to digital humanities; and are proficient in Office 365. In addition, the successful candidate will have superior verbal and written communication skills; a meticulous approach to work and strong attention to detail and accuracy; and excellent organizational and planning skills. Desired qualifications include the ability to use Canva or other design software to produce high-quality communications.
